Winter hair in Reykjavík

Wind, hats and dry heating. A short guide to getting through February with your hair intact.

Client with a fresh cut in soft winter light

Reykjavík in February is hard on hair. Wind off the sea, a hat on and off all day, and radiators running at full blast the moment you get home.

Wash less

Hot showers and daily shampoo strip the oils your hair needs when the air is this dry. Every second or third day is plenty for most people. Rinse with water in between.

Mind the hat

A hat on damp hair leaves a dent that no product will fix. Dry it properly before you go out, and choose a cotton or silk lining over wool if you can.

Shorter is easier

Many of our regulars go a little shorter from November to March. It dries faster, survives the hat, and grows back in time for summer.
