Nobody has left Duckbutt since we opened, which is why we rarely hire. This year we are adding a fifth chair.
We are looking for barbers who like the quiet part of the job: the talk before the cut, the neck shave at the end, and the client who comes back every two weeks for ten years.
Open chairs
Send a few photos of your work and a line about yourself. No CV needed. We reply to everyone within a week.
Barber
Full time, Tuesday to Saturday
At least three years behind the chair, confident with clippers and scissors, and comfortable with a straight razor.
Weekend barber
Part time, Fridays and Saturdays
For someone with their own clients during the week who wants two steady days in a calmer room.
Apprentice
Full time, two years
Paid from day one. You learn next to Einar and Sigrún and take your first clients after six months.
What you get
A salary, not chair rent
Fixed monthly pay, whether the book is full or not.
Four-day weeks
Everyone works four days, on a rota agreed a month ahead.
Five weeks off
Paid holiday, plus the shop closes between Christmas and New Year.
Tools on us
60.000 kr a year for scissors, clippers and whatever else you swear by.
Two courses a year
Paid training days, in Reykjavík or abroad. You pick.
